How is Christian Counseling Different from Traditional Counseling:
In many ways, Christian counseling is the same, if not very similar to traditional counseling in that it still involves the same ethical standards set by the state or national orginization that your therapist holds their license and affiliation from. Therapy is about you feeling comfortable with your therapist so that you can become vulnerable and reach the goals you set out to accomplish. Some feel more comfortable with a counselor that holds the same values and belief system they do.
Here at the Fraser Center, we have clinicians who are trained and capable of providing high quality Christian counseling. They bring a foundation of Christian values into the therapeutic process and involve your faith on whatever level you feel most comfortable with. Your therapist will never impose their own beliefs, but will walk with you on your own faith journey. Your first few sessions will give you time to talk over what Christian Counseling means to you as well as any expectations you may have for therapy.
"All of our clinicians on staff respect every person's religious or non-religious beliefs."
If you are interested in Christian Counseling, let us know when you schedule your appointment. If you would rather have non-Christian or therapy using more psychological/clinical methods, we can talk about that as well, so that you get exactly the atmosphere you need to feel comfortable to reach your goals.
